Corrie's Antony Cotton responds to fan confusion over Eileen's house

Coronation Street actor Antony Cotton has responded to some fan confusion surrounding Eileen Grimshaw's house.

During an interview with Digital Spy and other media, the star, who has played Sean Tully since 2003, was brought to the topic of Eileen's residence, which always seems to be brimming with people despite its modest size.

"The Grimshaw house has always had something specifically in its DNA and its blueprint. Eileen's house should always be mad and busy and filled with people. And we should always always be left wondering 'where do they sleep?'," he said.

"It has three bedrooms and a front parlour. So that's the technical answer to that question.

"But the fact that people still say, how many rooms are there in that house? How many people live in that house? That means that it's fulfilling it's from 2003 or whatever it was, that the house should be a full mad house. So that's still all going.

"We have me, Eileen, George [Shuttleworth], Mary [Taylor], Dylan [Wilson], Todd [Grimshaw]. So there is a big full house, which means that when you do a story like this, it's never just you and them, our house is always involving other people like Eileen, which now by proxy involves George," added the soap star.

Cotton was of course referring to the plot which sees Sean discovering that his son Dylan is bullying Liam Connor.

"So it's the fact that we're doing this story with my favourite people. I've known 'Rita Maudsley' – as I know him – Tony Maudsley for years and it's a thrill," he explained.

"I obviously adore Liam but to be doing it with other people like Patti Clare, who I love the bones of, and Tony Maudsley is dreamy for me because it's working with my favourite people."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
