Coronation Street's Daniel Osbourne decides to do a runner from Weatherfield next week after realising that he's under suspicion of two serious crimes.

Daniel (Rob Mallard) finds himself under close scrutiny from the police as they launch an attempted murder investigation following Ken's mysterious attack.

Viewers were shocked last night as Ken was found unconscious at the bottom of the stairs at Number 1 – and upcoming episodes will see the police confirm that someone pushed him.

Daniel first realises that he's under suspicion when he pays a visit to Ken at hospital and gets told by DS Mackinnon that he doesn't want to see any members of his family.

Mackinnon also doesn't waste much time before taking Daniel to one side and asking him about his missing mum Denise, pointing out that he managed to lie convincingly for six years to cover her absence.

As Mackinnon's questions get ever more probing, Daniel is horrified to realise that she's suggesting he might have killed Denise (just like that popular fan theory) before turning his sinister intentions to Ken years later.

Later in the week, Daniel's girlfriend Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn) is upset to find a note from him which confirms that he's leaving her.

Fortunately, Sinead manages to catch up with Daniel before he goes, giving him a chance to explain himself.

Daniel admits that he feels under suspicion from everyone after Ken's attack – including his own family – and reckons it's best to make himself scarce.

Sinead helpfully points out that Daniel will only make himself look more guilty if he suddenly disappears, but will he listen to her words of warning?

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Wednesday, April 5 and Friday, April 7 on ITV.
