Costa rolls out change to shops and furious customers say 'it astounds me'

Costa has come under fire from furious vegans raging at a "boring" new item on summer menu. A vegan fanpage has hit out at Costa over the poor choice of vegan wrap on its new summer menu, which is launching nationwide.

"Who can guess what the wrap is? Have you guessed it? OK, here comes the reveal...drum roll please," they fumed on Instagram in a viral post. "Falafel & Hummus! you guessed right! (Just to note, the actual wrap is called a "Fab" Falafel Wrap)

"And a... Gingernut Loaf Cake ... both available now. What do you think to Costa's summer vegan options - leave a Comment below." In reply, a fan sniped: "O, come on!! We’ve had enough falafel wraps already." A second said: "Falafel and Hummus... Revolutionary."

"What happened to M&S no egg sandwich ? Was such a change from falafel," another typed. "Nooo... literally the last thing any vegan wants is another cold soggy falafel wrap," another said. "I’d love a company to make one that is out of the ordinary. BBQ jackfruit with red cabbage slaw, grilled meaty mushrooms with teriyaki sauce, sweet chilli Chick’n with roasted peppers. Wish they’d make something flavourful for vegans and inviting for non vegans to try," another said.

"Can we pleeeease have something that’s not falafel and hummus?" another said. "Original AF. It astounds me that we have incredible vegan cooks who make 10/10 meals in their own kitchens to eat on the daily yet places like this offer us a combo that’s been around for years," another typed.

And another said: "Should be called FFS Falafel. Nothing fab about early 00s vibe vegan offerings @costacoffee." Naomi Matthews, Food Innovation Director UK & Ireland at Costa Coffee, said: “We’re ready for Summer at Costa Coffee and excited to unveil our new food menu, which celebrates the vibrant flavours of the season and showcases our commitment to innovation and quality."
