As if Guy Ritchie directing Aladdin wasn't eye-catching enough, it sounds like Disney has lined up a pretty out-there star to play Princess Jasmine.

Yep, going by the latest noise, Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall is among those being considered to play the iconic princess of Agrabah, at least according to The Sun.

The movie is the latest in a series of Disney reboots following the successes of The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast.

Aladdin would of course be a big commitment for the star alongside her work in Little Mix, with the group having reportedly already sat down to discuss potential scenarios should Jade be cast.

However, the girls are apparently very supportive of their bandmate.

Digital Spy has reached out to Jade's representatives for comment.

It comes after a casting call went out in March looking for leads Aladdin and Princess Jasmine, specifically calling them "Middle Eastern characters", which put many fans' minds at ease following calls to cast an appropriate actress for the Mulan remake.

Will Smith is apparently in talks to play the role of the Genie, which would honestly make all our wishes come true.

Ritchie has also assured fans that the remake will be a musical like the original, explaining: "I think it'd be tough to not make [Aladdin] a musical.

"I've really just immersed myself into that project. So I'm still looking for cast members, we still haven't found exactly which direction we're going in. I'm confident that at some stage it will reveal itself to me, but right now it's just a bit too premature."
