The much-lived Geordie star is apparently now a shoo-in to replace Mel and Sue on Channel 4’s new look Great British Bake Off when it returns to our screens sometime in 2018.

“Scarlett is now a serious contender – she opened a lot of eyes to her potential on I’m a Celebrity,” an insider has told The Mail on Sunday.

“She is young, very funny and just the type of presenter Channel 4 are looking for to front their version of the show.

“Scarlett may be inexperienced but the thinking is she could be paired with a more senior co-host.”

All manner of celebrities have been linked with the Bake Off job since the show was sold to Channel 4 earlier this year, including French and Saunders, Victoria Coren Mitchell, Sandi Toksvig and even the Chuckle Brothers touted as possible replacements for Mel and Sue. But sources reckon 26-year-old Scarlett has the upper hand because she’s already linked to the channel via Gogglebox.

It’s likely she’d be paid a fair old whack for the role, too. The I’m A Celebrity winner is in HUGE demand following her jungle victory, and forecast to make her first million after quitting her presenting job at a radio station to up sticks and move to London where the big jobs are.
