County Durham wardens increase patrols after finding wood filled with dog poo

Durham Neighbourhood Wardens have found a wooded area of Craghead filled with dog poo bags.

An investigation of the area, near Shafto Terrace, has found multiple bags of faeces.

The force will be increasing the number of patrols in the area to combat the problem.

Fixed penalty notices will be issued to anyone not carrying their dog poo to a bin.

A Durham Neighbourhood Warden spokesperson said: "Wardens have received complaints regarding dog waste in a wooded area near Shafto Terrace, Craghead.

"On investigation there was multiple bagged dog foul dumped in the area.

"If you have made the effort to pick the dog poo up, make the effort to place the bag into a bin and if there's no bin, keep a hold of it until you find a bin.

"Patrols will be carried out over the next few weeks and anyone caught doing so, will be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice for littering.
