Couple Convinced Sea Lions Could Sense Pregnancy

A videographer and his wife didn’t know they were expecting a baby when they went snorkeling near Perth last year, but they’re convinced two sea lions they met could sense it.

Dylan deHaas recorded as the two sea lions showed great interest in his wife, Sarah.

“I’ve [swum] with them many times and you only get five, maybe 10 seconds of them zooming around, then taking off. But this time they sat there in the water, checking Sarah out,” he said.

DeHaas said they both were left wondering about the sea lions’ behavior, and thought it curious the mammals only seemed interested in Sarah.

It “wasn’t until after, when we found out she was pregnant, that we put the two together,” deHaas said.

The couple welcomed a baby girl in February this year.
