A bus driver who was left penniless after being burgled TWICE has won £6million on the National Lottery.

Kevin Jones, 57, discovered that he had hit the jackpot while he was stuck in traffic during a morning shift in Crewe, Cheshire.

Kevin and wife Michele, 56, recalled how they were forced to move back to the UK after being burgled on two separate occasions at their old home in Spain after being revealed as the winners.

Kevin said: ‘Several years ago we had nothing. We were living in Spain and suffered two break-ins over one weekend and lost everything.

‘Michele was just so frightened we drove back to England and had to start all over again.’

Kevin also revealed what he plans to do with his winnings, and the keen football fan says he has already splashed out on two season tickets for Everton next season.

‘The spending spree with my enormous winnings has been two season tickets for Everton football club because at last I have the free time to go to every match with my son instead of having to work on Saturdays and Sundays’, he joked.

Yesterday, Lottery operator Camelot announced record sales of £7.6billion for this year - despite increasing the number of balls in the main Lotto game from 49 to 59 - with odds of winning changing to one in 45 million.
