Coventry City's plans for the summer are busily taking shape behind closed doors with fans eagerly anticipating the club's rebuilding ahead of the new Championship season.

There has been plenty of progress at the club on the pitch in recent seasons and are looking to see how Mark Robins will bolster and develop his evolving squad ahead of a new campaign.

Although the turnover of players isn't expected to be as high as last summer, when 14 left and 10 joined, there are several positions that need filling due to at least four known departures. There's also uncertainty surrounding a number of other players who have a year left on their current contracts.

The Sky Blues have already made their first signing with the addition of winger Raphael Borges Rodrigues from Australian A-League club Macarthur FC for an undisclosed fee. He joins fellow wide man Ephron Mason-Clark, who finally arrived at the club following City's £4.25m deal with Peterborough United in January.

Here are just some of your comments on how you think the Sky Blues should approach the summer and what areas of the team need strengthening.

Robbie Mason: We have some serious fire power with Simms,Wright,Tats and hopefully Mace-Clark. Thorp and Sheaf would be first choice behind the 10 which is Palmer. So we need someone who can play a 10 or an 8. Basically a Gus but I think Thorp looks like he can do that role.

I'm more worried about the back. We need a new number 1 goalie with Wilson being sold and a new centre back and defence minded right back. Dasilva is poor defensively even in a wing back system. He's a handy left winger coming on at the end of games but we have at least 3 options on the left flank.

There is no way Robins is selling Bidwell. He was player of the season for me. He should get a contract extension and pay rise even though he's on a good wage all ready. I think Sheaf wants to stay. Give the armband 20k a week 3 year contract. Robins cocked up with Kitching and not playing Binks more. You don't earn 30k a week in a very defence first minded Italian league if you are not good. I can't believe he's still interested in coming back. He must of seen Kitching play and think why is this ......... getting picked ahead of me. To then start with Lati at lcb was ludicrous. We need about 6 players and 7 if Godden goes which I hope he doesn't. He's a perfect 4th striker and he's settled in the area. Let him have a free transfer at the end of the season.

1987stew: It was good to hear Mr King's comment on sustainability being a prime factor. It bodes well for the future. It reminds me of a conversation some mates and I had with Doug Ellis OBE back in about 1980 on a golfing holiday in Majorca; a truly honourable man who loved his Villa even though he did not own it until the following year. Success and sustainability cannot be achieved with reckless spending. No matter what us fans think, we don't run or manage the club and there will be some transactions that we will love and some we are not so sure of.

Let us just leave it to those who make decisions and look forward to another campaign with great football and hopefully success. PUSB

charliehopper: If the club wants a good left back then look no further than Jacob Farrel from CCM. Tenacious in the tackle and with speed to burn, Jacob is a good dribbler and crosser of the ball and will be a relatively cheap acquisition in the right age group.

diggermac : Our scouting team have proved themselves pretty good at finding diamonds in the European markets at sensible prices for developing players. The domestic market for players is stupidly overpriced (10m for Rudoni ???) and we have to be realistic about how much money MR will have to spend.

hadji: I'd feel a lot better when we get some established players in, and not ones for the future... like the Aussie player. surely the free transfers will have been made an offer by now ? its June already.

Browne from Preston. the Bulgarian international and the Scottish kid for half million . A little outlay or none, get them in if the scouts rate them. that left back from Peterborough (Burrows) , is one I'd say we should spend money on. lack of a good goalie worries me. if we want to get promoted next year, i dont want to see Collins or Wilson between the posts.

Molly6271: Where is the vital signing of a goalkeeper ,if Wilson is not the one, this is the one position that has to be filled.I don’t know what on earth is happening!

Bigpete1963: We should sign about 5/6 players in my opinion adding this quality to our current team will make us a force to be reckoned with. I have confidence in mark and his team to hopefully buy some players that are quality but mostly that the buy into our team spirit.

Joey Ryan: Hope Binks comes back on a permanent. I'd like Godden on the bench, but we have another striker coming in. Don't think we need loads, we should keep Bidwell and he should be 1st choice. Get shot of Collins on loan and get another keeper in. Wilson shouldn't be leaving, promote Tyler and see if anyone comes up over summer. Keep most of the team and add more quality competition, but Burroughs should be in our squad, not out on loan.

We'll have a bit of a budget, I have quite a lot of faith in the scouting team to make the most of it. Not sure premiership clubs will be falling over themselves to sign O'Hare. Burnley were the ones that seemed most interested in him. Sheaf has been a good servant, but he's also under contract until 2026....he won't be going cheap and he's shown no sign that he wants to.

dapsy: Would like to see Binksy back, he played well and fit in with the team. We really need to get another defence built like the season before because it is what got us into the playoffs, what was it 22 clean sheets? Get that along with an on fire Simms and Wright with back up goals from the rest of the team and we will be formidable.

DavidM: When you look at the squads of the promotion and play-off contenders this season, you realise we are under-strength in almost every area. They were able to bring on substitutes to make a real difference in games. Most of those clubs relied heavily on loan players, whereas Coventry had only Binks. We'll need to re-think our policy on loanees if we lack the budget to buy top quality players.

Thors: I think that we definitely need a new keeper and my money would go on either Johansen from Rotherham or Nicholls from Huddersfield. Binks is a superb player so he would be a shoe-in if the finances were right. I think Jack Rudoni at Huddersfield may be a good shout in midfield. Dolan at Blackburn is another tricky player. We also need a real leader on the field in the Fadz mould.

jamielee2k: With all the speculation around these players, I would be happy to take another Posh player, mainly Kwame Poku, get the Rotherham Keeper Viktor Johansson, replace O'Hare since he clearly wants Premier league and get a decent playmaker in (Ilias Chair), Binks is also a great shout, another striker wont hurt either.

Something I think has been overlooked is we do really well in signing Dutch players and so looking in that league is a possibility. (Hamer, van Ewijk, and Torp-edo)
