A kind-hearted Coventry man said he was 'delighted' to see his walking group go 'from strength to strength.' Dan Phillips set up the group to raise awareness of mental health following the tragic death of his friend Marc Forth.

PC Dan Phillips, from Coventry Police, set up the group earlier this year in memory of friend and former colleague Marc Forth, who died in 2023. Since then the group has continued its regular meet-ups and walks at Coombe Abbey Park.

Officers from West Midlands Police decided to go further afield last weekend taking a long walk at Draycote Water in Warwickshire. PC Phillips said the trip was 'great' as they were joined by family and friends as well as Chief Constable Craig Guildford.

PC Phillips said: “We were thrilled to have the Chief Constable supporting us on Sunday (May 19) and delighted to see so many people taking part on a warm, sunny morning.

“We have been nominated by Team Police and Virgin Media O2 Business to be recipients of sponsorship money they are raising throughout May.”

He continued: “We have now also been awarded funding from the National Lottery, meaning we have some revenue to help with costs and putting on events, one of which is a family fun day in July.”
