Yahoo News Criminal Minds IS bringing back Shemar Moore
Criminal Minds will be bringing back yet another familiar face later this season.
Shemar Moore has somehow carved out enough time in his busy schedule as the star of fellow CBS series SWAT in order to make a return to Criminal Minds as Special Agent Derek Morgan.
When viewers last saw Agent Morgan, he'd made the decision to leave the BAU after surviving a kidnapping. However, his sense of duty will call Morgan back to the field in season 13.
Agent Morgan will reappear in the October 25 episode of Criminal Minds to assist Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) in cracking a difficult case to which she has a very personal connection.
A comeback for Shemar Moore is good news for fans, since executive producer Erica Messer admitted earlier this year that Moore's season 12 guest appearance may have been his last due to his demanding SWAT schedule.
"He got cast in this SWAT pilot, and we knew if it went to series – and all signs point to yes – we would never to get to use him again. So it felt like now or never."
Moore was an original Criminal Minds cast member, playing Special Agent Derek Morgan straight through the 11th season back in 2016.
Criminal Minds continues next Wednesday (October 18) on CBS in the US, while SWAT premieres on Thursday, November 2, also on CBS. Sky Living airs Criminal Minds in the UK.
