That's right, you're not alone in loving Netflix's The Crown. The actual Queen loves it too – according to Vanessa Kirby, anyway. The Mission: Impossible - Fallout star revealed as much in a new interview with The Guardian.

Kirby, who played Princess Margaret in the Emmy-winning drama, told how her friend was at a party with Princess Beatrice (Queen Elizabeth II's granddaughter) when the series came up in conversation.

Kirby said her friend "heard some people discussing The Crown and was like: 'Actually I know someone in that.' They were like: 'Cool.' He goes: 'No, but I really know someone in it.'

"Meanwhile, this girl says: 'Well my granny likes it,' and he suddenly realises her granny is the Queen. It was Princess Beatrice. Although, I told someone else recently it was Eugenie... but I got that wrong."

Not bad for a celebrity superfan, eh?

Kirby went on to lavish praise on her former co-star Claire Foy, who portrayed the Queen during the show's first two seasons.

"Oh, she used to give me the look in our scenes together and I'd just be feeling, aaaargh – you're so internal! You're so good! You're so subtle and I have to try so hard to rein it in!"

She added: "Claire was much better about the show ending [for them] than I was. She said it was because I had such a personal synergy with Margaret, whereas the Queen remained a mystery to her."

The Crown is set to return for a third season in the near future, but neither Kirby or Foy will be in the cast. Instead, Helena Bonham Carter will portray Margaret and Olivia Colman will step into the Queen's shoes.

Let's hope 'Er Maj is as big a fan of the new cast as she was the old.
