Taking place in the late '70s and early '80s, season four of the Netflix historical drama finds Olivia Colman's Queen Elizabeth II "preoccupied with safeguarding the line of succession by securing an appropriate bride for Prince Charles (played by Josh O'Connor), who's still single at 30."

Meanwhile, Thatcher's divisive political policies bring about a tense relationship with the Queen, as she leads the nation into the Falklands War.

Helena Bonham Carter also returns as Princess Margaret, alongside Erin Doherty as Princess Anne, plus Emerald Fennell as Camilla Parker Bowles.

Charles Dance is also back as Philip's uncle Louis Mountbatten (Earl Mountbatten), and Ben Daniels as Anthony Armstrong-Jones (Lord Snowdon).

Season 4 will include Charles and Diana's wedding, as well as their tour to Australia and New Zealand in 1983, plus the birth of their sons Prince William and Prince Harry.

Corrin recently spoke about the reaction when she walked out on set wearing a replica of Diana's iconic wedding dress, a scene which very briefly featured in the trailer for season 4.

"I had a team of about 10 people helping me put it on, because it's massive," she said. "I walked out and everyone went completely silent. More than anything else I wear in the series, it's so... it's her."

And Josh O'Connor, who plays Charles, has promised "thrilling" moments ahead as the series charts the royal couple's tumultuous relationship.

Imelda Staunton will portray the Queen, alongside Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, with Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret and Elizabeth Debicki as the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

The Crown is available to stream now on Netflix, while seasons 1 and 2 are also available on DVD and Blu-ray.
