Cult comedy is returning with three new episodes

A long-running BBC comedy is making a return with new episodes being filmed 36 years after it was first broadcast. Red Dwarf, created by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor first aired on BBC2 in 1988.

The sci-fi comedy has filmed more than 60 episodes and a full-length special, with new content last being aired in 2020.

Robert Llewellyn, who plays Kryten, told the British Comedy Guide: "We knew we were going to do more Red Dwarf and we're actually now doing it in the middle of October to the middle of November this year. A 90-minute special, three half-hours. So yes, we are making more."

He added: "I can't believe I've agreed to do it, I'm insane. I'm much too old."

Red Dwarf has so far aired 12 seasons, including a special series Back to Earth, and the 2020 full-length The Promised Land. The show stars Craig Charles, Robert Llewellyn, Chris Barrie and Danny John-Jules. It is not yet known where the show will be aired.
