We The Curious is counting down to its reopening by launching a list of activities for families to try. Its '73 Ways to Get Curious' list suggests one thing to do each day, to tease the run-up to the centre's reopening celebration on July 6.

The list has been created by the minds at the Bristol science centre and educational charity, including experiments and games. From exploring nature and getting creative, to seeing where your imagination can take you and trying to notice things around you, the idea is to inspire a little curiosity into people's lives each day.

The accessible activities in the list are a range of big and small activities, that can be done alone or with friends and family. The aim is to provide a space where people of all ages and backgrounds can share experiences to 'awaken their curiosity' just like they might do at the We The Curious centre in Millennium Square.

The science centre will be opening its doors again in the summer, with tickets to the celebration event on July 6 going on sale in the coming weeks. Bryony Roberts, content director at We The Curious, said: “As we get closer to re-opening, we want Bristol and beyond to feel empowered to question the everyday things around them and see the world through a curious lens. Everyone should have a voice in shaping our collective futures which is something we feel very passionate about at We The Curious.

"You may be thinking, 'why 73?', why not?! As we started to pull them all together, we realised it didn’t need to be a neat round number, that’s not really very We The Curious. Also, mathematically speaking, it’s a very special number because it has properties that other numbers don’t have, which we think is pretty cool too. Just ask Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory…

"Whether you do one thing on the list or all 73 is up to you. We simply hope you’ll love the feeling getting curious brings you”.

You can find the full list of 73 ways to get curious via the We The Curious website here. You can also follow along on social media, where activities will be revealed each week and you can share pictures of your family trying activities at home, with the social media hashtag - #73Ways.

Three of the activities on the list include:

1. Try paper chromatography at home and see all the different inks that make up your felt tip pens

2. Play 'will it float?' Fill a large, tall, clear container with water and guess which objects around the house will float and which will sink

3. Put on a performance or show

Why is We The Curious currently closed?

We The Curious closed in April 2022 following a fire which devastated the popular tourist attraction. The roof-top fire left the building severely water damaged.

Staff at the centre have spent the time since delivering science and education events out in communities across the city and they - and Bristol locals and visitors - are eager for the site to reopen soon.
