Dad hands out sweets to passengers on Halloween flight so daughter can trick-or-treat

The competition for 2016’s Dad of the Year has closed.

The prize has been taken by a quick-thinking father who made his daughter’s Halloween dreams come true, even though they were stuck 30,000 feet above the ground.

The anonymous dad was on a plane from Boston to San Francisco with his three-year-old daughter, Molly.

To make sure she didn’t miss out on Halloween trick-or-treating, he handed out treats to every passenger on board Flight VX357.

This left Molly free to go round the rows of travellers to trick-or-treat - and receive lots of candy.

His generous act was captured by fellow passenger Stephanie Kahan, who posted pictures on Twitter.

She wrote: “OMG, my heart is exploding right now. Dad of the year just passed out candy to everyone on the flight so his 3 year old could trick or treat.”

She added: “This is so wild! I had big plans of catching up on sleep on this flight”.

In addition to handing out treats, the father gave out “Happy Halloween” posters to passengers.

The note read: “My 3-year-old daughter, Molly, was bummed that she wouldn’t be able to go trick-or-treating this year due to this flight… so I decided to bring trick-or-treating to her.

“If you are willing, when my little doughnut comes down the aisle, please drop this in her basket.

“You’ll be making her Halloween! If you’re unwilling, no worries, just pass the treat back to me. Thanks so much!”

Ms Kahan’s post has been retweeted more than 65,000 times and has more than 110,000 likes.
