Yahoo News Dakota Fanning Hits High Notes in Erdem Dress Inspired by World-famous Opera Singer at ‘The Watchers’ Red Carpet London Screening
Dakota Fanning brought the drama to the red carpet special screening of her forthcoming film “The Watchers” in London on Tuesday. The actress fashioned a structured dress in shades of blue and black from a collection inspired by one of the world’s most famous opera singers.
For the London event, Fanning wore a selection from Erdem’s fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection. The sleeveless dress featured an abstract design, with gathered fabric at the waist and a full skirt. Shades of blue, black and white cascaded over the fabric of the dress, which featured a fitted bodice and cinched waist.

Fanning accessorized with jewelry by Jessica McCormack and a pair of pointed toe heels by Saint Laurent. The actress’ hair, which was pulled back with a few wisps to frame her face, was styled by Carlos Ferraz, with a clean makeup look by Mary Greenwell. Fanning’s look for the event was curated by stylist and costume designer Samantha McMillen.
The dress Fanning wore emphasized a dramatic silhouette and pattern, inspired by opera singer Maria Callas. British fashion designer Erdem Moralıoğlu initially paid tribute to the late American Greek opera singer, who died in September 1977 at the age of 53, with his 2024 pre-fall collection.
His fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection, which debuted during London Fashion Week last February, emphasized the juxtaposition between “the person and the persona,” WWD noted in a review. Erdem’s designs gave “a glamorous edge to the most practical clothing.”
Among the selections in the collection, a marabou cape was added to a cotton anorak and bits of velvet, and shiny embellishments were placed in juxtaposition to stain pajama suits in eau de nil or blood red.
Fanning’s forthcoming film, “The Watchers,” is directed by Ishana Shyamalan. The film takes place in a dense forest in western Ireland and follows a group of strangers who are watched by mysterious creatures lurking in the forest. “The Watchers” hits theaters June 7.
