Dakota Johnson's Dress 'Just Fell Off' Mid-Interview: Watch Her React to the Wardrobe Malfunction

The 'Madame Web' actress' dress broke during her appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'

Dakota Johnson handled a major wardrobe malfunction like a pro.

On the Wednesday, June 19 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the 34-year-old actress appeared to discuss her new movie, Daddio, in which she stars with Sean Penn. After host Jimmy Kimmel showed the audience a clip from the film, Johnson was seen struggling with the strap of her dress.

"Part of your dress just came unhooked. You all right?" Kimmel, 56, asked the star.

"My dress just — it just fell off," Johnson replied with a laugh.

The Fifty Shades of Grey alum was wearing a black slip dress with metal pieces adorned with floral charms serving as the straps. One of the straps appeared to have broken, causing Johnson to have to hold it in place so the top of her dress wouldn't fall down.

"Well, I'll just hold it," she said.

The host joked that Johnson just needed to "hold the important part," to which the actress placed both hands over her chest to keep the top of her dress up.

"The movie is really good," she joked while holding the pose.

Like a true pro, Johnson managed to keep the strap in place for the remainder of the interview without exposing herself, all while answering questions about her upcoming movie.

This isn't Johnson's first wardrobe mishap on late night television. In January 2022, the Madame Web star struggled to sit in her red Magda Butrym minidress during an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden.

After crossing her legs and placing her hands over her upper thighs, host James Corden noticed her discomfort and asked "Are you okay? Are you alright? Do you want my jacket?"

Johnson playfully replied with, "I'm okay. It's nothing nobody hasn't already seen," seemingly referring to her nude scenes as Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades franchise.

While accepting the award for favorite dramatic movie actress at the 2016 People's Choice Awards, the star made a similar joke after a hug from presenter Leslie Mann caused her Armani Privé Couture crop top came undone onstage.

"Leslie just broke my dress," Johnson said as she held the top in place. "Well, it's not like nobody here hasn't already seen my boobs."

She later explained what went down between herself and Mann during an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers.

"I hadn't seen her in awhile, so I hugged her," Johnson explained. "I hugged Leslie and then my dress broke and it was a two-piece, so my top almost fell off."
