Dale Winton: Shocked neighbours say Supermarket Sweep star 'suddenly' moved out of London home weeks before 'unexplained' death

After the tragic and unexplained death of television presenter Dale Winton this week, it’s been revealed that the star was ‘suddenly’ moved out of his London home just weeks before he died.

Police are still treating the Supermarket Sweep star’s death as ‘unexplained’ but are not classing his death as suspicious.

Dale, 62, was found at around 4.10pm on Wednesday, 18 April, and pronounced dead at an address in North London, with a police investigation ongoing.

A Scotland Yard spokesperson said: ‘Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 4.10pm to an address on High Road Whetstone following the death of a man aged in his 60s.

‘The death remains unexplained at this early stage but police are not treating it as suspicious.’

According to reports, a group of the former telly host’s friends moved Dale out of his apartment -where he’d lived for over 17 years – in a rented white van, a neighbour claims.

The once Supermarket Sweep presenter and radio DJ sold his apartment ‘suddenly’ and moved out without saying goodbye to any of his neighbours he’d known for years.

Iain Grant, 82, regrets not being able to say goodbye to the telly star who, as a neighbour, used chat with him and his wife whenever he saw them in the street.

‘It was just a white van,’ he said. ‘I am assuming it was just friends of his who were just moving boxes.

‘It was just a couple of lads who moved him out in a medium sized van.’ Iain also said it was ‘all quite a surprise, it was all quite sudden.’

Having been friends with the TV star, he says he’s sad he never got to say goodbye to his friend: ‘I feel quite regretful that I did not get a chance to say farewell and all the best,’ he revealed.

‘Dale and I used to shout at each other and say, “Hello Dale, how are you doing?”.

‘He lived here for at least the 17 years I have been here.

‘He had a Range Rover with a personalised number plate ‘DB’ I never knew why he wanted to advertise himself and he had a Bentley too with ‘DW’.

‘A lot of the time he was not even here, he used to come and go all the time.’

It’s not been announced how the 62-year-old died, with an official statement asking for ‘privacy at this time.’

However, the troubled TV presenter was found collapsed at an address in Whetstone, North London, with no word on the cause of death at present.

Dale spoke out about his mental health a few years ago on Loose Women, where he revealed that leaving television altogether was never an option.

‘I could have taken myself off the TV but I didn’t. Listen, there are worse things in the world – but I had depression and I didn’t realise,” he said.
