Dancing on Ice’s Hannah Spearritt has spoken about quitting the S Club reunion tour after Paul Cattermole died, saying: "SClub will never be the same again."
The singing sensation, 42, has joined the celebrity line-up for Dancing on Ice which starts this weekend after a turbulent year which saw her former bandmate Paul Cattermole die age 46 of natural causes, then Spearitt dropped out of the SClub reunion tour and she wrote a tell-all memoir Facing the Music all about her life.
In May last year Spearritt made the difficult decision not to go ahead with the SClub reunion tour and she addressed the reasons to why she didn't want to do the tour on Loose Women on Thursday.
What, how and why?
She told the Loose Women: "SClub will never be the same again, unfortunately. It just unfortunately wasn’t the right time for me to continue." SClub members also included Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O'Meara and Rachel Stevens.
Following Cattermole's death and quitting the tour, Spearritt admitted it was "tough" because she had already signed up to do the book. She said: "With the book, it came at the wrong time." The pop princess said it was "hard" revisiting old memories following what had happened.
So much so, the star said she considered giving up on the book but she revealed she was spurred on because she had set herself the challenge. She further explained: "It was tough doing the book. With the book it came at the wrong time. I decided to do it pre SClub, pre what happened that year. It wasn't what I anticipated writing about. I did think about not doing it. But then you set yourself these challenges, you don't want to give up. It was hard going back and back and revisiting stuff."
What else happened on Loose Women?
Ahead of the start of Dancing on Ice this weekend, Spearitt also spoke about taking part in the reality series. Loose Women host Christine Lampard admitted doing the show looked "scary" but she was quick to add: "Not to put you off in any way."
The SClub7 star agreed that ice skating could at times even be dangerous. She warned that she had a few near misses on the ice already. She further explained: "Safety is most important thing. Things have nearly happened already. It’s dangerous."
Nadia Sawalha - who competed on Dancing on Ice in 2011 - revealed in her experience it was easy to get hurt. "It hurts more than hitting the pavement," she said of falling on the ice. "It's harder than concrete." Sawalha was the first out of her series and she joked that after falling the first time she never let her partner's hand go again.
Spearitt jested she clung onto her partner like a "little koala" to stop herself from falling. "I clutch on like a little koala," she said. Plus, she admitted her muscles had been "asleep" for so long before taking part in the physically challenging show.
