Dani Rose Enters New Era by Hosting a Funeral for Herself in 'Good Mourning' Music Video — Watch! (Exclusive)

In "Good Mourning," Rose is "embracing the new" in her life and career

The old Dani Rose can't come to the phone right now. Why? She's dead!

On Tuesday, June 4, PEOPLE is exclusively premiering the music video to Rose's "Good Mourning" music video. In the music video, the rising country star formally invites fans to the funeral for her old self... and she's "out of her misery now that she's RIP!"

In the opening of the music video, directed by Preston Leatherman, a mysterious Rose is leaning on her Ford Bronco with a body in the back of the car. Eventually, she takes on a whole new look as she gets ready for her very own funeral.

When she walks in, she shocks the people attending the funeral and she takes the mic to start jamming out to the rocking tune as she gets the crowd up and dancing.

"You're invited to my funeral/Bring some flowers and a chicken casserole/The sun is rising and the rain is pouring/I'm not sorry baby/This is good mourning," she sings in the chorus. "We are gathered here today/To grieve the loss of a dead weight/To honor everything she gave/To sing and dance around her grave."

In a statement to PEOPLE, the singer-songwriter says that this song "symbolizes a new era in my life and music career."

"I recently packed up everything and moved permanently from Los Angeles to Nashville, and finally laid to rest a nine-year relationship with my old band that just wasn’t working anymore," she explains.

She adds of the concept, "I thought, 'What better way to celebrate and embrace change than writing a song and filming a music video and having an epic funeral for the old me and embracing the new!'"

This was the first music video where Rose, 39, served as executive producer and "all the behind-the-scenes work was worth it."

"The dance also came together so last minute as an afterthought! I envisioned this grand line-dance for the last chorus and I taught it to the actors when they came in for their fittings the day before the shoot," she says. "Thankfully, they were quick studies haha!"

On the day of filming, Rose says "mother nature was against us" as they were under "two severe weather warnings and tornado watches."

"At one point we had to take shelter in a restaurant in Nolensville and pause shooting at the next location until it was safe! Thankfully the weather cleared up and we got what we needed but in reality the stormy and unpredictable conditions actually paired well with the theme of the song," she says.
