Bond Makers: 'We're Not Going To Let Craig Go'

The producers of the new James Bond movie have vowed to keep Daniel Craig in the lead role as the world premiere was held in London.

Spectre is Craig's fourth outing as the British secret agent and he has not yet said whether he will do a fifth film.

But earlier this month, he gave the clearest indication yet that he will not do another 007 movie, saying he would rather "slash my wrists".

However, the film is expected to top the UK box office and the producers told Sky News they were "not going to let him go".

Speaking at the screening at the Royal Albert Hall, Michael G Wilson said "he's our man" while Barbara Broccoli said: "We're going to figure it out. We're not going to let him go."

And Naomie Harris, who plays Miss Moneypenny in the movie, said: "I want Daniel to always be Bond and I want Sam (Mendes) to always direct as well."

A number of high-profile names have been touted as Craig's successor should he hang up his holster, including Tom Hardy, Damian Lewis, Idris Elba and Henry Cavill.

When asked who he thought should become the next Bond, Craig said: "I don't care as long as they're good."

Wearing a black tuxedo, with a poppy pinned on its left side, the actor spent time signing autographs for fans and taking selfies.

Among the other stars at the screening were Craig's co-stars including Christoph Waltz, Ben Whishaw and Ralph Fiennes.

Prince William, wife Kate and Prince Harry were also at the royal premiere, where they met the stars and film-makers.

Spectre follows the agent as he confronts enemies from his past, including his nemesis Franz Oberhauster, played by double Oscar winner Waltz.

For the first time, the new Bond film is opening in cinemas throughout the UK on the same day as the premiere.

Craig told Sky News he was "very proud" of the movie and felt the team had "done the best we could".

He also said: "It's just fantastic to see everybody out tonight. I'm not overwhelmed, I'm very excited and I can't wait for people to see the movie."

He said 007 "becomes your life" and he had warm words for director Sam Mendes who was also at the helm for the previous film Skyfall.

Craig said he "loved the man" and wished he could work with him on every movie he does.

Mendes said of Spectre: "I'm very proud and quite nervous, but I'm used to the theatre where things can go wrong.

"With a movie, everyone is going to give the same performance ... so that aspect isn't too nerve-wracking.

"I want people to like it, I want people to like it as much as I do. I'm really proud of it, we sweated blood over it for two years. I'm really thrilled and a bit relieved."
