Cowboy Who Wants To Be Denmark's Prime Minister In Naked Poster Campaign
John Erik Wagner, 51, is running for Prime Minister in Denmark and also happens to be a cowboy
No, this isn’t a poster for a late night movie – this is an ACTUAL poster that a politician is using to gain the support of a presumably randy electorate in Denmark.
John Erik Wagner, 51, is running for Prime Minister in Denmark and also happens to be a cowboy – which is probably why he’s wearing a Stetson while he glares longingly at the voters.
But while his tactics might seem a little unorthodox, Wagner has unsuccessfully stood twice before, and believes that his change in tactics might result in a change of fortune.
‘I’ve been trying to get elected for 10 years now, and this is my third election, so I thought I’d try something different’, he told The Guardian.
‘It helps to look good if you want to be in government and people say I have a nice body’.
And while the posters have caused a stir internationally, John insists that ‘Most Danes are okay with nudity’.
However, he’s accounted for the possibility of the poster not being to everyone’s tastes, and has also campaigned with a more conservative (read: clothed) poster.
As for his policies he supports free national dental care, and a six-month national work year, which means that Danes will receive six months of holiday time.
But it’s not the first time that John pulled a cowboy-inspired stunt in Danish politics, having previously interrupted a 2013 debate while dressed in Cowboy gear.
Yeeeee-haaaa.
