Danville's Got Talent is back on the Fischer stage

Feb. 27—DANVILLE — Local talent will be display on the historic Fischer Theatre stage for the third annual First Friday event, Danville's Got Talent.

Danville's Got Talent will start at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 1. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Danville has been the hometown of many talented performers. Today, many gifted performers still reside here.

Danville's Got Talent will display 13 local performers on the Fischer Theatre stage as they compete for the title of Danville's Most Talented and cash prizes.

Tickets for the main floor and balcony are $5, sold in advance at atthefischer.com or at the box office before the show. Prizes: First Prize — $1,500; Second Prize — $1,000; Third Prize — $500; and People's Choice — $500 (decided by the audience).

Danville's Got Talent 13 finalists: Paityn Adams, Savanah Baird, Ava Bell, Rob Bolden, Addie Earles, Abby Hogg, Paul Hubbard, Kyra McCall, Kimberly Jo Montgomery, La Jason Parker, Ja'Nyla Phipps, Delanie Robinson and Dennis Rogers.

This year's judges include: Amanda Galloway, Dr. Mark Dobbertien, Sharda Pascal and Dr. Randal Ashton.

Last year's winners included: First place: Jennifer Lang (vocalist); Second place: William Phillips (vocalist); Third place: Anani Torres (spoken word poetry); and People's Choice: Janleydi Menez (vocalist).

"Last year, we had over 500 people purchase tickets and attend the event live and the recorded performance had over 3,000 views on YouTube," said Danville Community Relations Coordinator Rheanna Ollis.

Danville Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. encourages the public to attend the event.

Williams said there will be singing, dancing and ventriloquism/comedy acts. Contestants run the age gamut from the youngest being around 10 or 11 years old to a gentleman in his 70s, and include all different races, he added.

"I think you'll have a lot of fun with it," Williams said.
