Cleveland Pride is on its way - mark your calendars!

Pride in Tees Valley has announced that the first Cleveland Pride event will be taking place in Saltburn on Sunday, July 7. The community group revealed the free pilot event on Facebook on Friday.

A post states: "We’ve been working alongside our community committee to give Saltburn a free, pilot event which truly celebrates the borough’s LGBTQIA+ communities and allies. With a programme of creative, accessible and family-friendly activities to be announced soon - we hope you’ll join us in bringing Pride to Redcar and Cleveland this summer!"

If you're interested in being part of the first-ever Cleveland Pride, whether you'd like to join the pride committee, are an artist or organisation looking to get involved, want to have a market stall on the day, or would like to discuss sponsorship opportunities, contact the team at: pride@curiousarts.org.uk.

Cleveland Pride is supported by Tees Valley Combined Authority, Redcar & Cleveland Council, Tees Valley Community Foundation and Borderlands, the post adds.

A TVCA spokesperson confirmed that Cleveland Pride is being funded out of £150,000 from the Festival Collectives programme – which Cleveland Pride is part of. "The purpose of the Festival Collectives Challenge Fund is to encourage, support and strengthen the reach and impact of existing and new festivals and events across the Tees Valley," they said.

"Pride in Tees Valley is a partnership of charities and councils who deliver quality LGBTQIA+ community-led events & festivals (Prides) that will develop/increase LGBTQIA+ cultural infrastructure, festival products, visitors, investment, and best practice in the sector across Tees Valley through TVCA investment in staffing capacity, new artistic product development, marketing and festival infrastructure."
