A Date With Destiny: Prom Invite Stumps Sheriff

Sheriff's deputies have interviewed more than a dozen girls called Destiny as part of an investigation into a prom invitation spray-painted on to a cliff in Idaho.

Ada County Sheriff's Office has so far been unable to track down the culprit behind the 8ft pink and blue message which read "Destiny, Prom?"

The motif was daubed on the side of the Black Cliffs - a popular rock climbing spot east of Boise - in May.

Patrick Orr, a spokesman for Ada County Sheriff's Office, told KBOI 2News: "Our deputies interviewed over a dozen girls named 'Destiny' and checked out other leads but weren't able to track it down."

After the graffiti was discovered in May, Mr Orr added: "Whoever did this did a lot of damage aesthetically and culturally."

The sheriff's office has said new leads may now emerge after the school is back in session.

The culprit could face a misdemeanour charge of injury by graffiti, which carries a sentence of up to six months in jail and a fine of $1,000.

Officials have now painted over the graffiti.
