Dave Grohl Says Breaking His Leg Was A ‘Beautiful Blessing In Disguise’

While we’ve never PERSONALLY broken our leg (touch wood, rub a rabbit’s foot and all that), judging from our mum’s experience, we’re pretty sure many people wouldn’t exactly describe it as ‘beautiful’ or a ‘blessing’.

Still, legendary Dave Grohl isn’t just ‘many people’, is he?

Nope, he’s a ruddy kick-ass rockstar who reckons his unfortunate accident, which happened on June 12th in Gothenburg, Sweden, has actually improved Foo Fighters’ live shows - not least because he now performs sitting on a throne made of guitars.

Amazing.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the 46-year-old explained: “The shows we’ve been doing lately are our favourite shows that we’ve ever done.

“What seemed like a setback at the time has turned into this beautiful blessing in disguise, where this throne and these crutches and these audiences make us play longer and harder than we ever have. It’s this whole new energy in the show…

“I think the spontaneity of this situation we’re in right now just brings out a smile in everyone.”

Every cloud has a silver lining.

The band, who returned to the stage in Washington last weekend, have also got some very good news for UK fans, as they’ve announced some more tour dates to make up for the dates they had to cancel.

HAPPY MONDAY, EVERYONE. How’s that for a rock-based treat?

They’ll play Milton Keynes Bowl on September 5 and 6, before moving onto Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium on September 8.

In a statement, the band say: “You have always stood by our band, and we will always stand by you. Like I say at every show, we wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you guys. And I mean that.

“I thank you from the bottom of my heart. And I will do everything I can to come back and give you a night to remember for the rest of your lives as soon as possible.”

Tickets go on pre-sale on July 15, with a general sale starting on July 17. Those who had tickets for their Wembley Stadium shows will be offered tickets to their Milton Keynes shows before the tickets go on sale.

Good luck, everyone, and we’re wishing Dave Grohl a speedy recovery!
