Dave Grohl Steps In To Support Teenage Rock Band Banned From Playing In Parents’ Garage

He is known as the nicest man in rock - and now Dave Grohl has proved that once more by stepping in to support a teenage heavy metal band from Cornwall who were banned from playing due to noise complaints.

Cornwall Council told teenage metalloids Black Leaves of Envy that they would have to stop practicing in their parents’ garage - forcing the teens to seek out a new rehearsal space for the group.

But they have now found an unexpected ally in the form of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl - who penned an open letter to Cornwall Council to show his support for the group.

Grohl wrote: ‘I started in a garage in my neighbourhood. Together with friends, my adolescent years were made better by playing music with others. Music is not only a healthy pastime, it is a wonderful, creative outlet for kids, and fosters a sense of community necessary to the emotional and social development of any child.’

He also penned a separate letter to the band - in which he advised them on how to effectively soundproof the garage by covering the walls in sand and placing gym mats on the floor.

Band member Adam Jones has since described Grohl’s response as ‘surreal.’

He said: ‘I’m speechless. Seeing the Foo Fighters tag you in a post on Facebook was just incredible.’

Cornwall Council has since responded to the protestations - and said that they had received a complaint from a member of the public.

They added that they were ‘legally required ’ to investigate the complaints, but had not told the band to stop playing - and instead recommended the use of sound proofing.
