David Beckham to get Hollywood walk of fame star after being snubbed for knighthood

The Hollywood Walk of Fame's star-studded list for 2025 has been unveiled. The list features the footballing great David Beckham, late music icon Prince, and the punk rock band Green Day as one of the many who will be verified for a tribute on the famous Hollywood Boulevard pavement next year.

Amongst the chosen names is football idol David Beckham. The 49-year-old former sportsman played for England from 1996 to 2009, starting his professional club career in Manchester United, before playing at various other clubs such as Real Madrid and LA Galaxy.

Beckham was awarded an OBE in 2003, but failed to get a knighthood for yet another year as King Charles's Birthday Honours list was announced earlier this month. Also getting their names etched in history are the 'Purple Rain' singer, Prince, who died aged 57 in 2016, the Green Day band members Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool, Mike Dirnt, 86-year-old actress and activist Jane Fonda, and 58-year-old Scottish actor Alan Cumming.

Film industry notables include John Carpenter, Jessica Chastain, Bill Duke, Robert Englund, Emilio Estevez, Colin Farrell, Nia Long, Lisa LIu, Glynn Turman, and centenarian stunt woman Toni Vaz. Meanwhile the television stars' list includes Fran Drescher, Lauren Graham, Bill Nye, Molly Shannon, Sherri Shepherd, Courtney B. Vance, Chris Wallace, alongside 'South Park' duo Trey Parker and Matt Stone, who are penned in for a shared celebration. For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter.

In addition to the posthumous recognition for Prince, the music honours list includes Fantasia, Depeche une Mode, Los Bukis, The B-52s, The Isley Brothers, Busta Rhymes, George Strait, Keith Urban, and WAR. Following the announcement of the selectees, The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce are responsible for administering the Walk of Fame on behalf of the city of Los Angeles.

Following the announcement of the selectees, the commerce's chairman Peter Roth said: "Each honouree truly embodies the essence of excellence in their respective fields." The Californian landmark consists of 2,783 terrazzo-and-brass stars embedded in the pavement along 15 blocks on the Hollywood Boulevard. It was established in 1960. While the 2025 selection is now official, those named will have two years to arrange their induction date, after which the opportunity will lapse.
