David Cassidy hospitalised and in critical condition

Actor and singer David Cassidy has reportedly been hospitalised and is in critical condition.

The former Partridge Family star is suffering from liver and kidney failure, according to Entertainment Weekly.

However, a rep for the star that he is "currently conscious and surrounded by family", having reportedly checked into a Florida hospital three days ago.

His family have apparently been told to "prepare for the worst", having reportedly been suffering from failing health for a number of months (via TMZ).

Cassidy, who revealed in February that he's been living with dementia, rose to fame as part of musical sitcom The Partridge Family, leading him to become a teen heartthrob.

Afterwards he had a successful career as a solo singer, releasing over eight studio albums as well as a number of albums as part of The Partridge Family.

Cassidy is also the father of Arrow actress Katie Cassidy, who reportedly rushed to her father's side as the news broke as she was appearing at a fan event in Atlanta.

"Katie Cassidy just left a Heroes Villains Fan Fest in Atlanta after the news of her dad David Cassidy's condition," said producer Norman D. Golden II. "She still took pics with fans beforehand and now her privacy should be respected. Stay strong KC."
