David Kasumu calls on Huddersfield Town team-mates for 'professional' approach

Huddersfield Town midfielder David Kasumu has urged his side to remain “professional” for their final game of the season at Ipswich Town despite their relegation fate being all but sealed.

The Terriers are set to drop into League One following Saturday's clash at Portman Road, while the hosts are looking to claim the point they need to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Town sit second from bottom in the Championship table heading into the final day of the campaign, with 45 points recorded from 45 games played. They are three points adrift of fourth-from-bottom Plymouth Argyle, with a goal difference that is 15 worse than the Pilgrims.

Despite his side knowing that they face too big a task to avoid relegation, Kasumu has called on his teammates to keep going until the end.

“We’ve got to be professional, and obviously take every day as if it’s a normal day and a normal game coming up,” the midfielder said at a pre-match press conference.

“We’ll go into the game as if it’s a normal game that we’re trying to get three points from, nothing changes regardless of our situation. It’s still a game that we’re about to play, it’s a league game, the last game of the season. Obviously we want to finish on a high, so that’s the plan, to go there and try and win the game.

“Once you step foot on that pitch, it’s 11 v 11, and you want to win. Every player wants to win, so regardless of the situation, it’s a desire that you have when you go onto that pitch, and you’re trying to do the best for yourself, for the fans, whoever it may be, to give 100 per cent.”
