Davina McCall has shared an emotional moment with fans as she made a move which she said 'means so much'. The presenter got teary-eyed while talking about picking up her French password during Heart FM’s Breakfast Show earlier this week as she continues to fill in for usual co-host Amanda Holden.

On Wednesday (June 19) Davina revealed she was picking up her French passport later that day at the French embassy. It then prompted co-host Jamie Theakston to ask: "So, I’m just going to have to rewind this, how come you’re picking up a French passport when you’re a Brit?"

"My mum was French and I just feel like all of the French side of my family, the close side – my grandparents, my mum, my sister – they’ve all gone and I feel like it is time, now, to acknowledge this half of me and reconnect, actually," Davina explained. "I’m not joking, it’s a very emotional day for me, I will be sobbing at the French embassy."

Davina shares how it was her appearance on BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are? helped the “long” process as she had to prove that her mum lived in France.

When Jamie asked which passport Davina would have to show at passport control, the former Big Brother host responded: “Well when I go into Europe I’m going to show my French passport. I’m going to go: ‘I’m European!'"

Later on, Davina took to social media to confirm she was now the proud owner of her own French passport. Sharing a picture of herself beaming with it in her hand at the French embassy, the 56-year-old said: "Today I was handed my French passport. I thought of my sister, my grandparents, my mum, my uncle … this means so much."

And she was quickly flooded with messages. Former Pussycat Doll and Heart presenter Ashley Roberts said: "Yay! So happy for you." Presenter Julia Bradbury replied: "I had no idea. Tres bon." Singer Dannii Minogue commented: "Congratulations."
