Bravely speaking about the abuse, Dax, told SiriusXM’s Jason Ellis Show: “I was molested. Not to the agree or extent you were. It was minimal. It wasn’t anything like what you recounted, but even at that, it took me 12 years to tell anyone that.”

The 41-year-old was referring to the abuse Jason Ellis faced from his father as a child.

Revealing that he faced ‘all these insane thoughts’ during the 12 years when he did not speak about the abuse, Dax added: “I was like, a) it’s my fault, as generic as that is. And I’m gay, I must have manifested this because I’m secretly gay.”

The actor has opened up about his past struggles with drugs and alcohol, and revealed a statistic his mum, who is a court-appointed advocate for foster children in Oregon, recently gave him about abuse and addiction.

Dax told Jason: “She goes to these weekend workshops to stay abreast of things, and she called me not too long ago to tell me if you’ve been molested you only have a 20 per cent chance of not being an addict.

“And I was like, ‘Hmmm, interesting’, because in my mind I just like to f**king have a great time. But when you hear a statistic like that, I’m like, 'Oh no, I was going to be an addict, period’.”
