Deadly Flooding Continues in Belo Horizonte, Brazil

Heavy rainfall continued to swamp the streets of Belo Horizonte, a city in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, with rushing floodwater on Tuesday, January 28, a Brazilian weather outlet reported.

At least 60 people were killed in the state of Minas Gerais over the past week due to the flooding, reports citing officials said. The flooding has displaced more than 30,000 people, according to local media.

Reports said the “devastating” rain – 32 inches have reportedly fallen in just 27 days – inundated buildings and caused the collapse of the ceiling of a shopping mall in Belo Horizonte on Tuesday.
