Deadpool 2's Josh Brolin opens up about on-set death
Josh Brolin has described the death of Deadpool 2 stuntwoman Joi 'SJ' Harris as a "freak accident".
Back in August, filming was temporarily halted on the sequel after Joi lost control of her motorcycle and crashed through a glass window at Vancouver's Shaw Tower, dying at the scene.
Brolin spoke about the tragic event to Associated Press as he was promoting his new movie Only the Brave.
"We had somebody pass away on Deadpool 2 and it was an absolute freak accident. The woman was such a wonderful woman… it wasn't even a stunt, it was a freak accident," he recalled.
"It was a terrible thing that happened. Was it a nano-decision that she made in order to save the bike and this, you know what I mean? You could look into it all [these ways], but sometimes things just happen that are tragic."
When filming restarted on Deadpool 2 back in August, Ryan Reynolds led the cast and crew in a tribute to Joi, honouring her with a minute's silence.
"We're heartbroken, shocked and devastated... but recognise that nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel in this moment," Reynolds said in a statement on Twitter.
"My heart pours out to them – along with each and every person she touched in this world."
Deadpool 2 finished shooting this week and will be released in cinemas on June 1, 2018.
