Deadpool 2 outscores original with 'near perfect' reviews following test screenings

Deadpool 2 is receiving huge praise in the form of extremely high scores among test screening audiences.

The Fox sequel, released in May, is reportedly receiving marks as high as 98 following two previous screenings' scores of 91 and 97, respectively.

This is higher than the first Deadpool which saw the hugely-popular blockbuster receive a mark of 91 ahead of its release in 2016. The film - which starred Ryan Reynolds in the lead role - went on to gross $783m (£684m) globally.

The Hollywood Reporter states the final test, which took place in Dallas, showcased two separate cuts simultaneously, one receiving 94 and the other 98; Fox will reportedly release the latter cut.

Test screenings of films ask recruited audience members to rate different versions of films using boxes marked excellent, very good, good, fair, and poor.

Crew members attended the final test screenings with one audience member describing the atmosphere to the Super Bowl.

Deadpool 2 underwent reshoots following its previous two test screenings with reports revealing a secret cameo was added.

The sequel sees Josh Brolin play the villainous role of Cable alongside newcomers with Zazie Beetz (Domino) and Julian Dennison. Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Stefan Kapicic and Brianna Hildebrand will all return.
