Death in Paradise goes political - did fans like it?
Forget about Trump and Brexit, the hottest political scandal of the past year was on Death in Paradise tonight (February 23).
The BBC One crime procedural put all of the cast upheaval over the last two weeks on the backburner for a series finale that played out like a classic political thriller.
Saint Marie's mayor race took a very dark turn when tensions between the opposing candidates led to one of them actually being murdered inside his polling booth. And you thought your local race was dramatic!
The premise allowed Death in Paradise to explore the vitriolic political climate we're increasingly facing all while giving DI Jack Mooney (Ardal O'Hanlon) and his team an intriguing mystery to solve.
How did Death in Paradise fans react when politics was mixed into their usual whodunit-style mystery of the week? Let's check in with them to find out:
Love that #DeathinParadise is going political this week, well timed with #Copeland and #StokeCentral Humphrey was defo a LibDem IMO

Viewers are also still making up their minds about the show's new lead Ardal O'Hanlon:
O'Hanlon joined Death in Paradise earlier in the series to bridge the gap left by Kris Marshall, who quit his role as quirky detective Humphrey Goodman to spend more time with his family back in the UK.
In addition to the political murder that underlined Thursday's finale, we also saw DI Jack Mooney coming to grips with the loss of his wife and finally deciding it was right to move his young daughter Siobhan (Grace Stone) away from her home in London for a fresh start.
With the sixth series in the bag now, will you continue tuning in now that Ardal O'Hanlon is firmly entrenched as Death in Paradise's new lead detective? Vote in our poll below:
Death in Paradise will return for its seventh series in 2018.
