Death in Paradise's Ben Miller will be playing the character of Detective Superintendent Richard Groves alongside Anne-Marie Duff and Dominic Cooper.

The first trailer for the new season reveals a gripping storyline involving Dr Susannah Newman, played by Anne Marie-Duff, who begins to suspect that her new client, portrayed by Dominic Cooper of Mamma Mia fame, might be a murderer. After he confesses to killing women, she finds herself in a dilemma and soon faces imminent danger.

Picking up from where James Nesbitt left off, the series continues with the harrowing story of Dr. Susannah Newman as she grapples with the disturbing mystery surrounding her daughter's untimely death.

In the trailer, we see Detective Superintendent Richard Groves, played by Ben, interrogating the doctor - "Your daughter kills herself and you want to save a girl's life? " To which a defensive Susanna responds "Oh please," before Richard declares: "There is no evidence, no bodies.."

The official summary teases an intriguing storyline: "When a mysterious new client Jon makes a disturbing confession under hypnosis, Susannah is forced to embark on her own deadly mission to save a life, the way she couldn't do with her own daughter", according to the Express.

Joining Anne-Marie, Dominic, and Ben in this gripping drama are Belgravia's renowned Tamsin Greig, and Eddie Marsden known from Ray Donovan.

This captivating series, a reimagining of the Danish hit Forhret, initially followed a detective unravelling the mystery of his daughter's murder to find her killer.

Anne-Marie expressed her enthusiasm about the new season, stating: "I'm so pleased to be returning to Suspect to be able to dig deeper into the character of Dr Susannah Newman. Expect lots of twists, turns, and revelations alongside more questions to be answered. I can't wait for viewers to see what we've done with the second series."

She revealed to Channel 4 about her role, saying: "She is Danny's ex-wife and a psychologist who employs various techniques such as hypnotherapy. They share a daughter, Christina, and their relationship is complex."

She further elaborated on the intense emotions that surface when the characters meet again in the series: "When they encounter each other in the series, they carry two burdens: one filled with sorrow over their daughter's loss, the other brimming with unresolved issues surrounding failed relationships. When he enters and they see each other, it's evident they haven't had a proper meeting for some time, so it's charged with all sorts of energy."

Channel 4 Drama Commissioning Executive Ben Wadey couldn't hide his excitement about the show's comeback, stating: "We're thrilled to be collaborating with Eagle Eye Drama once more to bring back Suspect for its second series. With Anne-Marie Duff reprising her role as Dr Susannah Newman and an exceptional ensemble cast that includes Dominic Cooper, Tamsin Greig and Eddie Marsan, Channel 4 viewers are in for a treat when this airs."
