Drivers have been told to expect delays in northern Lincolnshire as an abnormal load is transported through the region today.

The load is being escorted from Immingham Docks on the A160 and A180 westbound and then the A18 westbound, before joining the M180. Police advised traffic will be affected and drivers should "avoid the area" if possible.

Humberside Police said in a statement: "Motorists are expected to experience some delays whilst an abnormal load is transported from Immingham Docks this morning.

"The delays can be expected whilst the abnormal load is transported along the A160 to the A180 westbound before reaching the M180 travelling on the A18."

In a tweet posted on Thursday, North Lincolnshire Council told motorists to expect disruption from 12pm today. It said: "North Lincolnshire drivers are advised to avoid the Brigg and Scawby area tomorrow (Fri 10 May) from midday when an abnormal load is to be transported from Immingham Docks to Scawby Brook.

"Further abnormal loads will be transported along the same route on the 17 and 24 May."
