Dennis Quaid and Julianne Moore have surprise “Far From Heaven” reunion

"I was absolutely thrilled to see him," Moore said of reconnecting with Quaid 21 years after they starred in Todd Haynes' melodrama.

Julianne Moore and Dennis Quaid's surprise Far From Heaven reunion was simply a religious experience.

The Oscar-winning actress appeared Wednesday on Good Morning America to promote May December, her latest film with Heaven director Todd Haynes, and cohost Michael Strahan told Moore he appreciated seeing her and Quaid reconnect backstage after they were coincidentally booked as talk-show guests for the same day.

"What a wonderful coincidence that we're on the show on the same day. We haven't seen each other in years!" Moore said, smiling as she recollected her time with Quaid on the 1950s-set melodrama about a housewife navigating her husband's secret attraction to men. "I was absolutely thrilled to see him. It was a long time ago. I was pregnant on that movie, and my daughter is now 21."

Moore also expressed excitement over Quaid's career as a recording artist, as he was on the show to tout his new project, Fallen: A Gospel Record for Sinners.

"I didn't know he recorded a gospel album, so I'm going to buy it," she said.

Later, Strahan introduced Quaid for a performance of a song from the album and cited his performances in The Day After Tomorrow and The Parent Trap as GMA audience favorites, though Quaid chimed in to remind him of Far From Heaven, too.

Upon its release, 2002's Far From Heaven garnered critical acclaim and commercial success, grossing nearly $30 million on a small budget before scoring four Oscar nominations at the 2003 Academy Awards ceremony, including for Moore's performance and Haynes' screenplay.

Haynes and Moore's new film, May December, is playing now in select theaters and premieres Friday on Netflix. Quaid's new album, Fallen: A Gospel Record for Sinners, is out now.
