Dermot O'Leary defends Sunday Brunch guest over Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer antics

Sunday Brunch turned awkward after Dermot O'Leary called out a "speechless" pair or hosts over an error. ITV This Morning star Dermot was in the Channel 4 studio with Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer for the latest episode on Sunday May 19.

Dermot, who hosts This Morning on Fridays with Alison Hammond, the Big Brother legend, joined Tim and Simon from 9.30am. As the pair spoke to Dermot about hosting the ITV magazine show, Dermot held up a piece of lime.

Looking at Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Dermot said: "By the way, I always feel very welcome on this show... can we talk about this? This poor guy, he said he hates lemon and limes... do you want him to come back?" Dermot said: "Poor guy, it's a lime.

"He said he doesn't like limes." Kiell, the BBC Ghosts actor, then said: "Seven times I've been here," as host Simon asked: "No," to which Kiell asked: "Huh?" He then said: "The rice is very nice." Tim said: "But everything has got lemon and lime in it," to which Kiell agreed: "I know!

"It's difficult. It's like being scared of pigeons which I also am, it stops you getting about." Tim asked: "Why are you scared of pigeons," as Kiell simply replied: "Look at them!" Discussing his partnership and rapport with Alison, Dermot - who shot to fame on the BBC before landing a Big Brother TV job - said it was "like working with your sister".

He gushed over "how fun" it was to be around her, before adding that he wakes up on a Friday "and can't wait to work with her". He also admitted he and Alison never get any notice about who they will be interviewing on the show.

They only find out the day before when they do the trailer for the next day, he said. Dermot said: "So I'll say it, and then think 'Oh am I interviewing them? That's exciting."
