Dermot O'Leary said he was 'mortified' after he watched Alison Hammond spit out food live on air. The pair were reunited and back fronting This Morning on Friday (April 26) and they had a busy edition of the ITV show on their hands.

Not only did they have the usual guests and experts, they were also revealing Alison's very own Madame Tussauds waxwork for the first time. But before that, the 49-year-old and co-host Dermot, 50, were discussing what else was coming up on the show including some bakery with Juliet Sear.

As they were over at the kitchen, it prompted Dermot to grab one of the cake's toppings as he said: "Do you reckon you can catch one of these in your mouth?" to which Alison insisted: "Absolutely, do a good one though!"

Dermot then threw a small item from one of the cakes which Alison successfully managed to catch it in her mouth. But as Dermot and Juliet celebrated, Alison was quickly left unimpressed as she hadn't realised it was in fact a chocolate-covered coffee bean that had been thrown into her mouth.

The puzzled mum-of-one said: "What is it?" to which it was confirmed it was a coffee bean that had been covered in chocolate ready for Juliet to use later. Alison then exclaimed: "Oh, it's horrible!" before adding: "Why would you even give me that?"

A panicked Dermot then protested: "I didn't know what it was, I thought it was a raisin or something!" Alison added: "Oh gosh, get me a tissue! You've literally just given me a coffee bean, who would want a coffee bean? Oh, that's absolutely disgusting!" The presenter then had to spit out the coffee bean to which Dermot added: "I'm so sorry, I'm absolutely mortified!"
