Dermot O'Leary scared of royal wedding gig

Dermot O'Leary finds the prospect of hosting coverage of Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding "quite scary".

The 'X Factor' presenter is looking forward to covering the ceremony tomorrow (29.04.11) for US TV channel E! but admits the challenge is daunting.

He said: "I can't wait. We were rehearsing the last couple of days with Giuliana Rancic, she's one of the main anchors there, and actually they're all really, really nice and down to earth and they are super excited about it.

"It's quite scary, but in a good way, and you're right, they are, but they're also . the nice thing is, certainly with a channel like E!, is that they're aware that they're more excited than we are and they find that quite puzzling, which I love."

Dermot also admitted he doesn't think he would have accepted the job if had been for a UK station, as it would have had to be more formal and serious.

He added in an interview with Absolute Radio DJ Christian O'Connell: "Do you know what, I think it's interesting, because if the Beeb had asked me to do something or ITV I might not have been able to get my head around it slightly because I think they'd have wanted something a bit more serious and a bit more po-faced.

"It's not that E! aren't treating it with any good degree of reverence, but at the same time it's a bit more fun I think."
