Paloma Faith has cancelled her gig in Cardiff just a day before the event for medical reasons. On Thursday, April 18, the English singer-songwriter issued a statement on social media saying she was "devastated" to postpone her concert that was due to take place at Utilita Arena Cardiff on Friday, April 19.

Faith, known for hit singles New York and Only Love Can Hurt Like This, previously revealed she has laryngitis. She said she was forced to cancel on medical advice and is dealing with the condition "one day at a time", so will keep fans updated about her Brighton concert. She was due to perform in the Welsh capital as part of her tour for her latest album, The Glorification of Sadness, which was released in February.

The concert will be rescheduled, she confirmed, as she urged fans to "hang on to your tickets". We will update article with details from the arena when they are confirmed. It comes a day after the 42-year-old called off her concert in London due to the illness. Issuing a statement on social media, Faith said she sent her "deepest apologies" to Cardiff. The statement said: "I am devastated to announce I have been advised by medical professionals not to perform my Cardiff show tomorrow (Friday 19 April) but to reschedule. I am doing vocal rest, steaming, gargling, and I even had a steroid injection.

"At the moment it’s one day at a time so will let you know tomorrow about Brighton but I don’t want to do anything more than I want to do these shows and know that when you do come they will be the best show I can do for you. So far this tour has been incredible and I am dying to get on with it!

"This is the worst thing to have to do. And I can’t apologise enough…… weirdly the kids are behaving better now I can’t speak , which is confusing me. Please hang on to your tickets and as soon as my team have a date to reschedule to we will let you know." For the latest Cardiff news, sign up to our newsletter here
