A Grimsby family hub has been completely destroyed in a suspected arson attack.

At around 9.30pm on Sunday evening (April 21), firefighters received reports of a blaze behind the East Marsh Family Hub, in Victor Street.

Crews quickly extinguished the fire, but the summer house and play area were left badly damaged as a result of the incident.

In a statement, Humberside Fire and Rescue confirmed they are treating the fire as "deliberate ignition". A spokesperson said: "We sent a fire engine to an incident on Victor Street in Grimsby shortly before 9.30pm on Sunday evening.

"A summer house in the rear garden was on fire and firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and left the scene by 9.45pm. The incident has been labelled as deliberate ignition."

Police are investigating the fire and are urging anyone who has information to help them with their enquiries to contact them.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: "We received reports of an outbuilding on fire on Victor Street in Grimsby at around 9.40pm on Sunday. Nobody is believed to have been injured as a result of the fire.

"Anyone who has information or has footage that may assist with our enquiries is asked to contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 521 of 21 April."
