Dexter: New Blood – which is not a ninth season, thank you very much – has finally confirmed its UK air date. Mark your calendars, folks, because it's soon.
Ahead of Dexter's return in the US, the revived drama has announced when it will debut across the pond, with episodes set to air on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW.
New Blood, which marks Michael C Hall's comeback as serial killer Dexter Morgan, will air its first episode on Monday, November 8 at 10pm. New episodes will air weekly, a day after they premiere in the US.
Starring the likes of Jennifer Carpenter, Julia Jones, and Jack Alcott, Dexter: New Blood is set 10 years after Dexter went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura.
Worlds away from the Miami police department for which he used to work, New Blood finds the blood-spatter expert living in a small New York town called Iron Lake.
He's got a new name and a new life, but in the wake of unexpected events in his new, close-knit community, his Dark Passenger inevitably beckons.
The new 10-part series hopes to make up for the show's divisive conclusion back in 2013, which actor Michael C Hall recently conceded as "mystifying at best".
"It's been gratifying and I think the show ended in a way that was pretty mystifying at best if not infuriating for people, but that at least set the stage for us to return and answer more definitively what the hell happened to this guy," he said of the decision to revisit Dexter.
"I totally support what happened, the choice he makes at the end, but as far as the execution goes, we were all running on vapour at that point."
Let's hope there's something more substantial in the tank this time around.
Dexter: New Blood hits Showtime in the US on November 7. Sky Atlantic will air the series in the UK. All episodes of Dexter are also available on NOW.
