What did viewers think of The Child in Time then?
The long-awaited The Child in Time finally aired on BBC One tonight (September 24).
The feature-length drama was adapted from Atonement writer Ian McEwan's novel, and saw Benedict Cumberbatch step away from his high-profile roles of Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Strange to play a father whose daughter mysteriously vanishes.
As you might expect, the subject matter made for an emotional watch, with plenty of viewers admitting their child going missing would be their biggest fear.
#thechildintime so brilliant, so raw, so real. But can't watch any more because it's just too good. Huge emotional toll on the actors I bet
