Yahoo News Disney's live-action Lady and the Tramp finds director
Yeah, yeah, we know – not another Disney live-action remake!
But to be fair to the House of Mouse, they did a pretty great job in adapting an animal-based story for live-action with 2016's The Jungle Book, and now it looks like the Lady and the Tramp retelling will be in safe hands too.
Because, according to The Wrap, Charlie Bean, who recently worked on The LEGO Ninjago Movie, has signed on to direct a live-action adaptation of the 1955 animated classic.
Which means seeing this iconic scene, but in real life:
Lady and the Tramp tells a love story between pampered Lady and streetwise Tramp, who meet after Lady finds herself on the street and is taken under Tramp's wing paw as he tries to show her how to live life in a more carefree way.
Bean has previously served as director on Disney's animated Tron: Uprising series, with LEGO Ninjago marking his big-screen directorial debut. As well as Bean as director, the film will also be produced by Brigham Taylor, who previously worked on The Jungle Book with Jon Favreau.
Lady and the Tramp is expected to be released as an exclusive on Disney's new streaming service, which is due to launch next year along with a whole host of exclusive, original content including a new High School Musical title, an animated Monsters Inc series, a live-action Marvel show, and a new Star Wars TV show.
The film is far from being the only live-action remake on the way either, with Disney currently working on a remake of Dumbo with director Tim Burton, Aladdin with director Guy Ritchie and, of course, the live-action Lion King too.
Phew. It's a good time to be a Disney fan.
