The series is an adaptation of Kang’s popular webtoon of the same name, and tells the story of a group of strangers, each struggling to come to terms with a traumatic event in their past. Going about their daily lives, each individual is mysteriously drawn to a light shop that sits at the end of a seedy alleyway. Guarded by a vigilant shopkeeper, the light shop could hold the key to the strangers’ pasts, presents and futures.
Light Shop will star Bae Seong-woo, Ju Ji-hoon, Park Bo-young and Lee Jung-eun, and is directed by Kim Hee-won.
Kang, an influential artist and writer, is best known outside Korea for the breakout international hit Disney+ series Moving, an action-packed drama about teens discovering they have superpowers. Released Aug. 9, 2023, Moving became Disney+ and Hulu’s most-watched K-drama ever — in the U.S. and globally — within just seven days of release.
Disney+ launched in South Korea in November 2021 and has steadily ramped up its local content output to tap into the surging global popularity of K-drama.
