Martin Clunes is about to step into Doc Martin's shoes for one final time as season 10 of the cosy comedy drama brings his story to a close.
The ITV series has become a hit all over the world since it first began in 2004, but it's finally time for a last appointment with Cornwall's grumpiest doctor.
Here's all you need to know about the 10th and final season of Doc Martin.
When does the final season of Doc Martin begin?
The last season of Doc Martin begins on Wednesday, 7 September at 9pm on ITV.
Episodes air weekly and there are eight episodes in season 10.
Fans can still look forward to one final instalment of the show, though, as there'll be a Christmas special this December.
What happens in the last season of Doc Martin?
Doc Martin's phobia of blood has been a long-running theme throughout the series and last season, after being investigated by the General Medical Council over it, he finally decided to call his career quits.
With he and wife Louisa recently having welcomed a baby daughter, his new role is to look after the baby and their young son James while Louisa heads back to work as a child counsellor in their old surgery.
But the consequences of his decision start to hit home for him and he begins to wonder whether he has made the right choice.
However, it looks like Doc Martin could take up his post again, as Clunes told Good Morning Britain: “I’m not a doctor at the beginning as you saw and Louisa's taken over my practice, but I don't think it's a spoiler to say that I will see patients again later in the series.
"It really builds to a terribly dramatic conclusion, really dramatic.”
Talking about why the series had to come to an end, Clunes told Loose Women: "All good things have to come to an end. And I’m sure there are lots of people who aren’t fans of the show who think it’s terribly repetitive anyway, but we’re at huge pains not to repeat ourselves. I just think we’ve sort of done everything. I mean, it would be so great to just sort of carry on, but I don’t think we can keep it as good."
Who stars in Doc Martin series 10?
Of course, Clunes is back again as title character Doc Martin, and Caroline Catz returns as his wife Louisa.
Also returning are Ian McNeice as Bert Large and Joe Absolom as his son Al, Jessica Ransom as Morwenna Newcross, and John Marquez as PC Joe Penhale.
Viewers should also look out for Fay Ripley, Angela Curran and Eileen Atkins in the cast.
